TORONTO, ONTARIO - November 7, 2019 - GrowerIQ, a seed-to-sale technology and cannabis cultivation platform provider, is thrilled to announce a partnership with Dalhousie's Faculty of Agriculture on a new course, Cannabis Production & Management. GrowerIQ provided industry insight on the learning agenda, by including their cannabis cultivation guide, Mastering the Compliant Grow, as part of the curriculum. Additionally, GrowerIQ's subject matter experts will lead tutorial sessions on the use of their cannabis technology platform, providing a hands-on approach to students.
The Dalhousie course, Cannabis Production & Management, will provide advanced knowledge and skill sets for mid to upper-level production jobs in commercial growing facilities. Students will cover critical aspects of the cannabis industry, products, workplace requirements, crop management, quality control/assurance, harvesting, processing, and waste management. Emphasis will be placed on practical applications to cannabis facilities and workplaces.
Andrew Wilson, Chief Operating Officer at GrowerIQ, reflected on the impact a program like this can have on the cannabis industry in Canada. "One of the top questions we field from our clients is regarding talent sourcing for the complex requirements of their cultivation operations. This course is a direct response to a clear urgent market need, and so I'm excited to be partnering with Dalhousie to lead the way."
The GrowerIQ cultivation guide, Mastering the Compliant Grow, is a collaboration between the experts at GrowerIQ and Master Grower Shlomo Booklin. This cannabis cultivation guide, rooted in plant science, provides everything needed to upgrade skills from hobbyist to professional grower. It covers topics ranging from batch numbering strategies for compliance in a licensed facility, clonal propagation, nutrient management, all the way through to dealing with spider mites, powdery mildew infection, and crop harvesting.
Master Grower Shlomo Booklin reiterated the need for a guide like this, "As cannabis transitioned from illicit to licit market, certain remnants of the Wild West remained. Those of us cultivating did not see the same level of professionalism we were used to in commercial agriculture. I wanted to bridge that gap. This is the first guide dedicated to professional cultivators working in a licensed facility."
For Colette Wyllie, Program Manager with Extended Learning at Dalhousies Faculty of Agriculture, GrowerIQ's cultivation guide stood out: "We have been lucky to work closely with many industry partners in developing this course, including GrowerIQ. Mastering the Compliant Grow is an excellent guide that is included as a recommended resource within the Propagation module of Cannabis Production & Management. We feel it will serve students who go on to work in commercial facilities very well."
The inaugural session of the course runs from October 2019 – January 2020. For more information, visit the course overview. The cultivation guide is available online through GrowerIQ.
